Trump says he no longer feels bound to focus solely on peace
US President Donald Trump has told Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre that he no longer feels compelled to devote himself exclusively to peace efforts, following what he described as Norway’s refusal to award him the Nobel Peace Prize.
In a message disclosed on Monday, Trump argued that his diplomatic achievements — which he claims include ending or helping to resolve more than eight conflicts — were not recognized by the Nobel Committee, based in Norway. As a result, he said he no longer feels obligated to prioritize peace as his sole objective.
The authenticity of the message was confirmed by a source familiar with the matter and later acknowledged by the Norwegian prime minister in comments to local media.
Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration over not receiving the prestigious award, often citing his role in international negotiations during his presidency. The statement adds to a series of controversial remarks made by the US leader in recent weeks amid rising geopolitical tensions.
