Spain dismantles international drug trafficking network, 3.2 tons of cocaine seized
Spanish National Police announced on Tuesday the dismantling of a criminal organization specialized in international drug trafficking, resulting in the arrest of twelve individuals and the seizure of 3.2 tons of cocaine.
The investigation, launched in early 2024, expanded internationally by mid-July 2025 through close cooperation with law enforcement agencies in Sweden, Poland, and Portugal, according to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior.
Authorities identified a complex structure based in the Community of Madrid, dedicated to receiving, storing, and redistributing narcotics to several European countries.
The network operated through a sophisticated logistical system: members regularly traveled to southern Spain to collect the drugs and transported them to Madrid in secure convoys. Rental vehicles were escorted by other cars tasked with detecting police controls.
Drugs were then stored in two industrial warehouses in Alcobendas and Fuente el Saz, where they were manipulated and concealed in hidden compartments inside trucks and cars.
The twelve suspects have been brought before the judiciary, which ordered their pretrial detention. They face charges of membership in a criminal organization, drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, and money laundering.
