In a recent interview, Spain's Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, commended the "exemplary" cooperation between Morocco and Spain in managing migration flows between the two nations.

During an appearance on the Spanish public broadcaster TVE, Minister Grande-Marlaska emphasized, "Cooperation between Morocco and Spain is exemplary. We have been close, reliable, and loyal partners for a long time."

These remarks follow Grande-Marlaska's visit to Morocco last month, marking his first foreign trip since Spain's new government took office. Throughout his visit, Grande-Marlaska highlighted the longstanding cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing that it has been founded on "shared goals and principles, within a framework of mutual trust and absolute loyalty."

This collaborative effort encompasses joint strategies on migration throughout the Mediterranean region. Morocco and Spain have implemented efficient systems that enable both countries to manage migration in a spirit of partnership.

The bond between the two nations was further solidified in April 2022 when Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited Morocco. This visit resulted in the establishment of an ambitious roadmap aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including the economy, security, education, and more.

With a robust alliance grounded in trust and effectiveness, Morocco and Spain serve as a model for neighboring countries seeking to address the multifaceted challenges posed by irregular migration.
