South Africa has pledged to take firm action against xenophobic violence targeting foreign nationals following diplomatic concerns raised by Ghana over recent incidents.

The response comes after Ghanaian authorities expressed alarm over videos circulating on social media showing alleged attacks against migrants, including Ghanaian citizens. In reaction, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa summoned South Africa’s diplomatic representative and called for urgent measures to prevent further escalation.

South African officials have since reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the rule of law. Ronald Lamola stated that any individuals involved in acts of violence, intimidation, or incitement against migrant communities would be identified and prosecuted.

Authorities stressed that such actions contradict the country’s constitutional values and warned that law enforcement agencies would intensify efforts to address the situation. The government also emphasized the importance of protecting all residents, regardless of nationality.
