Paris: 20-year-old Afghan charged and imprisoned for “Terrorist Criminal Association”
A 20-year-old Afghan man has been formally charged and placed in pre-trial detention in Paris for participation in a terrorist criminal association and financing a terrorist enterprise, according to France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT).
The suspect was arrested on October 26 while being held at a detention center in Lyon. He is accused of maintaining ties with Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), the Afghan branch of the terrorist group Daesh. Investigators believe he played a role in supporting the organization by sending funds, translating material, and relaying its propaganda.
The PNAT confirmed the charges on October 29, following information first reported by Le Parisien. French authorities continue to intensify their surveillance of suspected Islamist networks operating within and beyond national borders.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations proceed, and no additional details have been released regarding potential accomplices or networks active on French territory.
