Morocco's Milestone: Renault Tangier Plant Begins Production of First Hybrid Vehicle
The Renault Group factory in Tangier has embarked on a groundbreaking venture with the production of the Dacia Jogger, marking the first hybrid vehicle manufactured in Morocco. This milestone underscores Morocco's pivotal role in Renault's industrial strategy and showcases the robust partnership between the North African nation and the automotive giant.
Morocco's Minister of Industry, Ryad Mezzour, expressed his enthusiasm for this development. "I was pleased to participate yesterday in Tangier in the launch ceremony for the production of the Dacia JOGGER, the first hybrid car bearing the 'Made in Morocco' label, by the Renault Morocco Group," Mezzour stated on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Starting today, pre-orders for the Dacia Jogger can be placed on Dacia's official website, with the vehicles becoming available on September 20. The new model will be offered at a starting price of MAD 190,900 ($19,470).
Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia, commemorated the start of production, highlighting the Tangier plant's significant achievement. "This versatile and affordable family vehicle embodies Dacia's success story in Europe," Le Vot remarked, pointing to the Jogger's potential to enhance the brand's presence in the market.
Echoing this sentiment, Thierry Charvet, Director of Industry and Quality at Renault Group, emphasized Morocco's strategic importance. "Morocco is a cornerstone of the Group's industrial strategy," Charvet affirmed, noting the Tangier plant's dedication to revolutionizing the company's industrial framework.
The Renault Group also reported exceptional financial performance for the year 2023, further solidifying its strong market position and the success of its strategic initiatives.
This significant development not only positions Morocco as a key player in the global automotive industry but also highlights the country's growing capabilities in advanced manufacturing and innovation.
