The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Morocco has reported a continued decrease in new measles cases for the fifth consecutive week, highlighting the effectiveness of nationwide efforts to curb the spread of the virus.

Between February 24 and March 2, 2025, the number of reported cases dropped by 13%, reaching 2,481. This follows a 14.9% decline the previous week, when 2,863 cases were recorded, according to an official statement.

This significant improvement is attributed to the dedicated efforts of healthcare professionals across the country, strong coordination among stakeholders, and increased public participation in catch-up vaccination campaigns as part of the national initiative to verify immunization status.

To maintain this progress, the national vaccination campaign has been extended until March 28, ensuring that all families have access to essential vaccines, including the measles vaccine, which remains available free of charge at health centers. The ministry urges parents to take their children to the nearest health facility for vaccination to safeguard their health.

Despite the nationwide decline in cases, authorities emphasize the need for continued vigilance due to regional disparities in case numbers and vaccination coverage. The ministry reiterates its call for all citizens to actively support national efforts to eradicate measles, stressing that vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent the disease, its complications, and further transmission.
