Moroccan researchers secure top honors at Kuwait international invention fair
Three Moroccan researchers from Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) have earned the prestigious Grand Gold Medal with Jury Honor at the 15th edition of the International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME 2025). The event, held in Kuwait from February 16 to 19, celebrated groundbreaking innovations from around the world.
The Moroccan team—comprising Hafid Griguer, Younes Zaarour, and Rafiq El Alami—was recognized for their cutting-edge invention aimed at securing official documents through advanced digital identity technology. Their innovation, known as T3, integrates digital authentication with physical identity verification, combining paper documents with a digital system to ensure authenticity and prevent tampering. This breakthrough has significant implications for safeguarding sensitive documents against fraud and forgery.
The T3 technology had already garnered international acclaim in 2024, receiving recognition at the World Summit Awards (WSA) as one of the leading global technological advancements.
In a LinkedIn post, Hafid Griguer expressed pride in the recognition, emphasizing the transformative impact of their invention. He highlighted that the technology, developed under the SensThings platform, provides a robust solution for document security by merging digital certification with "phygital" (physical and digital) identity. Griguer also noted the project's broader contribution to technological and administrative innovation in the region, as evidenced by its receipt of the Grand Prize from the Arab Labor Organization under the League of Arab States.
The award ceremony in Kuwait was attended by several high-profile figures, including a representative of the Crown Prince of Kuwait, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Morocco’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Ali Benaissa. The recognition of the Moroccan team's work underscores Morocco’s growing prominence on the global stage of technological innovation.
