Moroccan early education initiative earns global recognition for rural development
The Moroccan Foundation for the Promotion of PreSchool Education (FMPS) has secured the prestigious 4th Hamdan-ICESCO Prize for its transformative work in equipping primary schools and enhancing education access in remote areas across Morocco.
The award, which celebrates exemplary voluntary initiatives that enhance educational environments in Islamic nations, recognized FMPS alongside two other distinguished organizations. A Yemeni institution received acclaim for establishing model high schools in Hadhramaut Governorate, while an Azerbaijani organization was honored for its comprehensive Educational and Social Support Program, which focuses on school construction and renovation across Islamic countries and beyond.
Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of ICESCO, emphasized the critical role of voluntary action in education, noting that "ensuring sustainable and inclusive education requires continuous support for voluntary efforts and philanthropic initiatives." He praised the winning projects as exemplars of positive change and highlighted ICESCO's dedication to strengthening the initiative through strategic partnerships.
The recognition underscores Morocco's commitment to advancing educational opportunities in underserved regions, setting a benchmark for similar initiatives across the Islamic world.
