Moroccan Coach Hussein Ammouta Takes Helm at UAE’s Al Jazira
In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing its football ambitions, Al Jazira, the prominent Abu Dhabi football club, has appointed Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta as their new head coach for the upcoming season. This significant announcement was reported by the Emirati news outlet, Al Etihad.
Ammouta’s arrival at Al Jazira follows the mutual termination of his contract with the Jordan Football Association, a development that facilitated his transition to the UAE club. His appointment is seen as a crucial step for Al Jazira, which is navigating a critical transitional phase and seeking to reestablish its dominance on the field.
The Moroccan coach's reputation precedes him, marked by his remarkable achievements with the Jordanian national football team. Under Ammouta's guidance, Jordan reached the final stage of the 2023 Asia Cup in Qatar, a historic first for the nation. His leadership also propelled the team to the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, highlighted by a notable victory over Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.
Ammouta’s extensive experience and impressive track record extend beyond his recent successes with Jordan. In Morocco, he has earned acclaim for his accomplishments at both the club and national levels. Ammouta's career also includes a stint as a player in the UAE, where he played for Sharjah.
Speculation about Ammouta's departure from the Jordanian national team began circulating in February of this year. In an interview, Ammouta hinted at his impending exit, explaining that he needed to return to Morocco to be with his family during a challenging period. This personal necessity coincided with the expiration of his contract with the Jordan Football Association, paving the way for his new role at Al Jazira.
As the new season approaches, the Al Jazira faithful are hopeful that Ammouta's leadership and tactical acumen will steer the club towards renewed success and glory.
