France to unveil targeted measures to tackle rising energy costs
The government of France is preparing to introduce targeted measures aimed at easing the impact of rising energy prices, according to Finance Minister Roland Lescure.
The announcement is expected in the coming days as authorities respond to a surge in energy costs linked to ongoing tensions involving Iran. The increase in prices has placed significant pressure on key sectors of the economy.
Officials indicated that support will focus on industries particularly affected by higher fuel and electricity costs, including transport companies and fisheries. These sectors have been struggling to cope with increased operating expenses, prompting the government to consider additional assistance.
According to the minister, previous steps have already been taken to help heavy fuel users, such as long-distance drivers, but further action is being designed in a more targeted manner to ensure efficiency and fairness.
In addition to national measures, France is also seeking to coordinate efforts at the international level. Roland Lescure confirmed that a meeting with finance and energy ministers, as well as central bank representatives from the G7, is scheduled in the coming days to discuss the broader economic implications of rising energy prices.
The situation highlights growing concerns across Europe about energy security and the economic consequences of geopolitical instability. Policymakers are increasingly focused on balancing immediate support for affected industries with long-term strategies to stabilize energy markets.
