Eneida Marta highlights peace and cultural dialogue at Mawazine 2026 in Rabat
At the 2026 edition of the Mawazine – Rhythms of the World festival in Rabat, Bissau-Guinean singer Eneida Marta delivered a powerful message centered on peace, intercultural dialogue, and hope, marking her first appearance at the renowned international event.
Ahead of her performance on the historic Chellah stage, the artist expressed her excitement about meeting Moroccan audiences, describing her participation as an important milestone in her artistic journey. Having previously performed in Casablanca, she emphasized her enthusiasm to connect with the public in Rabat as part of a global festival that brings together artists from across the world.
Known for blending traditional rhythms from Guinea-Bissau—such as Gumbé and Manding influences—with modern Afrobeat sounds, Eneida Marta views music as a universal language capable of bridging cultures and strengthening human connections. She highlighted the importance of artistic exchange in promoting mutual understanding and showcasing cultural heritage.
As a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, Marta also integrates humanitarian themes into her work. Her songs often reflect social realities in Guinea-Bissau while promoting messages of solidarity, coexistence, and hope. Through her artistic expression, she aims to inspire a sense of unity and optimism for the future.
The artist also expressed her desire to build artistic bridges between African musical traditions and Moroccan sounds, noting that Morocco’s rich cultural landscape offers strong opportunities for creative collaboration and musical fusion.
She also revisited her latest album Family, created during the COVID-19 pandemic with the involvement of her family members. The project explores themes of identity, belonging, and social realities in her home country, adding a deeply personal dimension to her artistic expression.
Through her participation in Mawazine 2026, Eneida Marta reinforces her commitment to using music as a platform for dialogue, cultural diversity, and the promotion of peace among nations.
