Akhannouch represents Morocco at the Davos economic forum
Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, has arrived in Switzerland to represent the Kingdom at the 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), being held in Davos until 23 January. The event brings together around 400 senior political leaders, including approximately 65 heads of state and government.
Mr. Akhannouch is leading a high-level Moroccan delegation that includes the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, and the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), Ali Sadiki.
Held under the theme “A spirit of dialogue,” this year’s forum gathers nearly 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries, against a backdrop of profound geopolitical, technological, and social transformations.
The 2026 edition is marked by an unprecedented level of governmental participation, with several G7 leaders in attendance, alongside dozens of ministers responsible for finance, foreign affairs, trade, and central bank governance.
Political leaders are meeting with around 850 chief executives and presidents of major global corporations, as well as entrepreneurs, technology pioneers, and founders of high-growth start-ups.
Positioned as a neutral platform for dialogue and cooperation, the World Economic Forum aims to foster open exchanges between governments, the private sector, civil society, international organizations, and academia, with the goal of developing practical responses to global challenges.
Discussions at Davos are focusing on the renewal of international cooperation in a context of strained alliances and declining trust, as well as on new models of collaboration in areas such as security, sovereignty, and global integration.
Other key topics include managing geopolitical risks, navigating economic uncertainty, and promoting responsible innovation, particularly in emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence. Human capital development, workforce adaptation, and sustainable growth within planetary limits are also central to the debates.
