African Lion 2024: A Monumental Demonstration of Military Prowess and International Cooperation
Under the Royal Directives of His Majesty the King, Supreme Leader and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the "African Lion 2024" exercise will be jointly conducted, for the twentieth time, by the FAR and their American counterparts, from May 20 to 31. The exercise will take place in the areas of Benguérir, Agadir, Tan-Tan, Akka, and Tifnit, according to a communiqué from the FAR General Staff.
Approximately 7,000 military personnel from around twenty countries, in addition to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), will participate alongside the Royal Armed Forces and the U.S. Armed Forces in these large-scale military maneuvers in Morocco, as specified by the same source.
The "African Lion 2024" exercise encompasses several activities, including combined tactical, land, maritime, and air exercises, day and night operations, a special forces exercise, airborne operations, as well as an operational planning exercise for the staff officers of the "Task Force" General Staffs. This twentieth edition also includes an academic training cycle organized in preparation for the exercise, training in the fight against weapons of mass destruction, and a range of medical, surgical, and social services provided to the population of the Akka region by a Field Military Hospital, as noted by the same source.
Contributing to the reinforcement of operational, technical, and procedural interoperability among the participating armies, the "African Lion 2024" exercise, the largest conducted in Africa, remains an unmissable event where military officers gather to exchange procedures and experiences, particularly in the field of combined inter-service training and exercises. The communiqué emphasizes the enduring nature of cooperation between the Royal Armed Forces and the U.S. Armed Forces, reflecting the historic and strong ties that bind the two countries, as concluded by the FAR General Staff.
