Global outage hits major online services: Snapchat, Perplexity, Fortnite and more affected
A massive global outage has disrupted access to several popular online platforms, including Snapchat, Perplexity, Signal, Fortnite, Roblox, Clash Royale, and the crypto platform Coinbase, early Monday morning.
The issue has affected users across multiple countries, including France, with reports of widespread connection failures and high latency. According to initial information, the disruption originated from a major failure in Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s largest cloud hosting providers.
“We can confirm increased error rates and latency across several AWS services in the US-EAST region,” Amazon stated on its official status page.
Many online platforms rely on AWS cloud infrastructure to store data and maintain real-time services, which explains the simultaneous breakdown of so many apps and websites. The outage has affected millions of users worldwide, prompting frustration on social networks.
