Nasser Bourita Meets with UK Humanitarian Envoy to Discuss Middle East Peace Efforts
Rabat, October 2024 – Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, held a pivotal meeting this Thursday with Mark Bryson Richardson, the UK Foreign Secretary’s Representative for Humanitarian Affairs in the Palestinian Territories. The dialogue centered on the ongoing Middle East crisis and joint efforts to foster peace and stability in this strategically critical region.
During the meeting, Minister Bourita reaffirmed Morocco’s unwavering commitment to lasting peace in the Middle East, a stance guided by King Mohammed VI. The Kingdom continues to champion the two-state solution, advocating for the Palestinian people's rights. Morocco’s long-standing diplomatic relations with both parties in the conflict position it as a key player in mediation and dialogue efforts aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Mark Bryson Richardson emphasized Morocco’s influential role not only as a mediator but also as a humanitarian contributor to the Palestinian territories. He highlighted the significance of Moroccan-British cooperation in managing humanitarian crises, underscoring the need for a broader, sustainable approach to aid and support in the region.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank was a central point of discussion. Both parties stressed the urgency of increased international engagement to alleviate civilian suffering and enhance peace-building initiatives.
