Rabat-Salé-Kénitra: Over 5,700 New Businesses Established in Five Months

The entrepreneurial dynamic continues in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. By the end of May 2026, 5,712 new businesses were established there, according to the latest data published by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC).

These new businesses consist of 4,614 legal entities and 1,098 individual entrepreneurs, confirming the predominance of companies in the landscape of newly registered structures in the region.

Rabat Accounts for Nearly Half of New Business Creations

The capital leads the regional ranking with 2,576 new businesses created during the first five months of 2026. Rabat thus concentrates a significant portion of the entrepreneurial activity in the region.

Kénitra occupies the second position with 1,171 new creations, followed by Témara, which records an additional 921 businesses.

The other cities show more modest numbers. Salé has 442 new businesses, followed by Sidi Kacem with 152 creations and Tifelt with 150. Khémisset totals 93 new structures, while Mechra Bel Ksiri records 86 creations.

Sidi Slimane has 60 new businesses, Souk Larbaa 53, and Romani closes the list with 8 creations recorded by the end of May.

This distribution confirms the economic weight of the main urban centers in the region while highlighting an entrepreneurial dynamic present, at varying levels, across the entire territory.

Trade Leads the Most Attractive Sectors

The sectoral analysis shows a strong dominance of trade, which represents 30.57% of the new businesses created in the region.

Construction, public works, and real estate activities constitute the second area of activity with 21.57% of the creations. Various services closely follow, concentrating 20.46% of the total.

Transport accounts for 8.46% of new businesses, ahead of hotels and restaurants with 5.56%. The industrial sector reaches 5.19%, while information and communication technologies represent 4.16% of the creations.

Agriculture and fishing total 2.15% of the new businesses registered, while financial activities represent 1.89%.

This sectoral structure reflects an entrepreneurial economy largely driven by commercial and service activities while confirming the contributions of the construction, real estate, and transport sectors to the creation of new structures.

SARL-AU Dominates Entrepreneurial Choices

From a legal standpoint, the Single-Member Limited Liability Company (SARL-AU) remains by far the most used form by business creators.

It represents 65.4% of the new structures registered in the region. Limited Liability Companies (SARL) come in second with 33.5% of the creations.

Other legal forms account for only a marginal part of the total, with 0.7%, while public limited companies represent 0.3%.

This predominance of the SARL-AU illustrates the appeal of this legal form among project holders wishing to create a business with a structure suited to individual initiatives.

Over 42,000 Businesses Created Nationwide

The dynamic observed in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region is part of a broader movement at the national level.

By the end of the first five months of 2026, Morocco recorded 42,905 new businesses, according to OMPIC data. Legal entities represent 75% of all creations, compared to 25% for individual entrepreneurs.

With over 5,700 businesses created in five months, the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region thus confirms its role among the main territories for entrepreneurial development. The concentration of creations in Rabat, Kénitra, and Témara, combined with the weight of trade, real estate, and services, outlines a diversified entrepreneurial activity, predominantly driven by the creation of companies.
