Strikes hit oil depots near Tehran leaving four dead

Tensions in the Middle East escalated again after several petroleum facilities in and around Tehran were targeted overnight, according to Iranian officials. The attacks reportedly damaged multiple fuel storage locations and caused fatalities among workers at the sites.

Authorities in Iran stated that four oil depots and a petroleum logistics facility were struck during the night. The strikes were attributed to forces from the United States and Israel amid a broader confrontation that has intensified in recent weeks across the region.

Keramat Veyskarami, head of the national petroleum distribution company, said the affected installations suffered damage but emergency teams managed to bring the fires under control. According to him, four employees — including two drivers — were killed during the attacks.

During the night, thick smoke from the burning facilities spread across the sky above the Iranian capital. Residents reported a strong smell of smoke and fuel in several neighborhoods as firefighters worked to contain the fires.

Despite the damage, officials said the country’s fuel supply remains stable. Veyskarami noted that strategic reserves stored in depots across the country are sufficient to meet domestic demand for the time being.

The strikes follow a wave of military actions in the region since late February, raising concerns among international observers about the risk of wider escalation.
