Palestinian displacement proposal faces strong Arab League opposition

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit delivered a firm rejection of any plans to relocate Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank during his address at the World Governments Summit in Dubai. He emphasized that such proposals are incompatible with the Arab world's longstanding position.

Speaking at the summit, Aboul Gheit expressed concern about a potential two-phase displacement, starting with Gaza and extending to the West Bank, which he characterized as an attempt to remove Palestinians from their historical homeland.

The Arab League chief specifically addressed US President Donald Trump's proposal regarding Palestinian relocation from Gaza, a plan that has drawn widespread criticism across Arab nations. Aboul Gheit underscored the Arab world's century-long resistance to displacement policies, stating that the region would maintain its position.

"After resisting this for 100 years, we Arabs are not about to capitulate in any way now because we have not suffered a political, military or cultural defeat," he declared, reinforcing the Arab League's commitment to opposing forced Palestinian relocation.
