Turkey investigates F-16 crash after pilot’s death

Turkey has launched a thorough investigation following the crash of a Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet in western Balıkesir province, which resulted in the death of its pilot, Major İbrahim Bolat. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed profound sorrow over the loss during a public event in Ankara, offering prayers for the pilot and extending condolences to his family, the Air Force, and the nation.

Authorities confirmed that a full inquiry is underway to determine the circumstances of the accident. Erdoğan emphasized that all relevant procedures are being carried out by the appropriate institutions to ensure a complete understanding of the incident.

The National Defense Ministry reported that the aircraft lost radio contact and tracking data before the crash. The fighter jet had departed from the 9th Main Jet Base Command in Balıkesir at 12:56 a.m. local time. Officials have stressed the importance of conducting careful examinations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
