Young man injured in shooting incident in northern Marseille
A young man in his early twenties was injured by gunfire overnight in northern Marseille, according to police sources. The incident occurred in the Saint-Just neighborhood, where shots were fired in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services responded quickly and transported the victim to hospital. Authorities confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening. The shooting reportedly involved assailants traveling on a two-wheeled vehicle, who fled the scene shortly after opening fire.
Investigators believe the attackers used an automatic weapon and discharged multiple rounds toward a local shopfront. Several cartridge cases were later recovered at the scene, prompting the opening of a judicial investigation.
The case has been assigned to a specialized police unit dealing with organized and serious crime. The incident adds to a series of recent shootings across different parts of Marseille, raising renewed concerns about public safety and the circulation of illegal firearms in the city.
