Ukrainian drone strike sparks industrial fire in Russia’s Stavropol region

A Ukrainian attack triggered a fire at an industrial site near the Russian city of Stavropol on Monday, according to regional authorities, marking the latest cross-border strike as Kyiv continues to target infrastructure inside Russia.

Officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties, while emergency services worked to contain the blaze.

Fire breaks out at industrial facility

The governor of Russia's Stavropol region said the attack caused a fire in an industrial zone near the regional capital in southwestern Russia.

Authorities did not immediately provide details about the type of facility affected or the extent of the damage.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the site, and officials reported that the situation was under control.

Ukraine steps up strikes inside Russia

The incident comes as Ukraine has intensified long-range attacks against targets inside Russia, increasingly focusing on industrial and energy infrastructure.

Kyiv has sought to weaken Moscow's ability to sustain its military campaign by disrupting facilities linked to fuel production, logistics and other strategic sectors.

Russian regions bordering or located near Ukraine have experienced a growing number of drone attacks over recent months, with industrial installations frequently among the reported targets.

Infrastructure remains at the center of the conflict

Cross-border drone warfare has become a defining feature of the conflict, with both Russia and Ukraine using unmanned aerial systems to strike military and strategic infrastructure far from the front lines.

While Russian authorities regularly report intercepting drones, some attacks have succeeded in causing fires and temporary disruptions at industrial sites.

The latest incident underscores the continued escalation of long-range operations as both sides seek to undermine critical infrastructure supporting the war effort.
