Morocco Announces 2026-2027 School Holiday Calendar as October Break Approaches
Moroccan students are preparing for their first scheduled school break of the 2026-2027 academic year, with an eight-day holiday set to begin on October 18, according to the calendar issued by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.
The timetable covers primary education, lower and upper secondary schools, as well as programmes preparing students for the Higher Technician Certificate (BTS). It outlines four main holiday periods throughout the academic year, alongside additional days off for national and religious celebrations.
October Break Marks the First School Holiday
The first break is scheduled to run from Sunday, October 18, through Sunday, October 25, 2026. The holiday offers students and teaching staff their first extended pause following the start of the school year.
The ministry’s published decision establishes the framework for school holidays across the different educational levels, providing families with a timetable for planning around the academic calendar.
Four Main Holiday Periods Scheduled
Following the October break, students will have three further main holiday periods before the end of the 2026-2027 academic year.
The second break is scheduled for December 6-13, 2026, while the end-of-semester holiday will take place from January 24 to January 31, 2027.
The third holiday period is planned for March 21-28, 2027. The final main break will run from May 9 to May 16, 2027.
These dates provide a framework for families, educators and school administrators to organise activities and manage commitments throughout the academic year.
National and Religious Holidays Also Included
In addition to the four main breaks, the official calendar incorporates days off associated with Morocco’s national and religious holidays.
These additional dates form part of the broader school-year schedule and complement the designated holiday periods.
For parents and students, the calendar provides an overview of the academic year’s main interruptions, helping households anticipate periods when classes will be suspended.
With the first break approaching in October, attention now turns to the implementation of the published timetable across Morocco’s educational institutions.
