Ukraine: two killed in Russian drone strike on Dnipro
Two people were killed overnight from Saturday to Sunday in a Russian drone strike on the city of Dnipro, in eastern Ukraine, according to regional authorities.
The attack triggered a fire that destroyed a private house and damaged two others, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration said in a statement published on social media. The victims were identified as a man and a woman.
Emergency services were deployed to the scene to extinguish the blaze and assess the damage. Several vehicles were also destroyed as a result of the strike, highlighting the impact on residential areas.
The incident occurred as a temporary pause in Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, was set to expire. The halt had reportedly been agreed to by Russian President Vladimir Putin following a request from US President Donald Trump.
Dnipro, a major industrial hub, has repeatedly been targeted since the start of the war, despite its distance from the front lines. Ukrainian authorities continue to call for stronger air defense support as drone attacks remain a persistent threat to civilian areas.
