Turkish president welcomes US-Iran agreement and urges sustained regional diplomacy
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has welcomed the recent agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening peace and stability in the wider Middle East region.
In a statement shared on social media, Erdoğan expressed support for the deal and said he hoped it would contribute to a more stable and secure regional environment. He emphasized that the agreement represents a positive development at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions.
The Turkish leader also called on all parties involved to act responsibly during the implementation phase of the agreement, urging restraint and caution to avoid any actions that could undermine the diplomatic process before it is fully finalized.
Erdoğan highlighted the importance of maintaining calm and avoiding provocations or rhetoric that could escalate tensions. He stressed that sustained diplomacy remains essential to ensuring that the agreement translates into long-term stability.
The Turkish president also expressed appreciation for the role of international mediators, including Pakistan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, which he credited with supporting efforts to bring the parties to an agreement. He thanked the leadership of both the United States and Iran for engaging in negotiations aimed at de-escalation.
According to Erdoğan, the development reflects a long-awaited opportunity to advance peace and cooperation in a region that has experienced prolonged instability. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting diplomatic initiatives and contributing to solutions based on international law and dialogue.
Analysts note that Türkiye has consistently positioned itself as a regional actor advocating for mediation and diplomatic engagement in conflicts affecting the Middle East. The latest statement reinforces Ankara’s interest in supporting multilateral efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting stability.
As the agreement moves toward implementation, regional governments are expected to closely monitor developments and assess its impact on broader security dynamics in the Middle East.
