Turkish president holds phone call with Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Leader
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, president of Türkiye, held a phone conversation on Tuesday with Abdel Fattah al‑Burhan, chairman of the Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, to discuss bilateral ties and the evolving security situation in Sudan.
According to an official statement from Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, the discussion focused on diplomatic relations between the two countries as well as developments related to stability and security in Sudan.
During the call, President Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye places strong importance on Sudan’s territorial integrity and political unity. He also noted that Ankara is closely monitoring the efforts undertaken by the Sudanese armed forces to restore stability in the country.
The Turkish leader reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Sudan, highlighting that humanitarian assistance and cooperation efforts would continue as part of Türkiye’s broader engagement with the African nation.
Türkiye has maintained diplomatic and humanitarian involvement in Sudan in recent years, particularly in response to the country’s ongoing political transition and security challenges. Observers note that such exchanges between leaders reflect the importance of international dialogue in addressing regional instability and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
