Donald Trump has stood by the possibility of receiving an Air Force One replacement, a Boeing 747-8, as a gift from the Qatari royal family. The plane, often described as a "palace in the sky," would be provided after Trump's presidency. He would keep the aircraft, according to reports from NBC News, with the White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, confirming that any such gift would comply with U.S. laws.

In his social media response, Trump defended the deal, claiming the Department of Defense would receive the 747 at no cost as a temporary replacement for the aging Air Force One. He criticized Democrats, calling them "World Class Losers" and saying the situation was so upsetting to them that they wanted to pay top dollar for the plane, instead of accepting the gift.

The U.S. Constitution, specifically Article I, Section 9, Clause 8, prohibits government officials from accepting gifts from foreign rulers without Congressional consent. In light of this, Democrats argue that Trump would need to seek Congressional approval for such a gift. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer remarked that the deal undermines the "America First" principle and amounts to foreign influence, with added luxury.
