Iran Nuclear Programme: Washington Launches $20 Million Intelligence Recruitment Campaign

The United States has launched a new intelligence-gathering initiative targeting Iran’s nuclear programme, offering up to $20 million and the possibility of relocation to individuals able to provide valuable information about its operations.

The announcement was made on Friday by US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American military operations across the Middle East. In a statement published on X, the command said the offer applies to information concerning Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, including facilities, equipment and personnel connected to the programme.

The initiative represents another dimension of Washington’s efforts to obtain intelligence about Iran’s nuclear capabilities as the conflict between the two countries continues.

Washington Intensifies Its Intelligence Efforts

The financial incentive comes amid repeated statements by US President Donald Trump that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a central objective of American policy.

Since the outbreak of the war in February, following US and Israeli strikes against Iranian targets, Trump has repeatedly insisted that Tehran must not be allowed to develop an atomic arsenal.

On Saturday, the American president maintained that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been neutralised, while suggesting that further operations could still be necessary against one or two remaining locations.

Among the sites attracting particular attention is Mount Kolang, also known as Pickaxe Mountain. US intelligence assessments have raised suspicions that the mountainous area could conceal an underground nuclear complex, making it a potential target of continued surveillance and military attention.

Tehran Maintains Its Position on Nuclear Activities

Iranian authorities have consistently rejected allegations that the country is seeking to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran maintains that its nuclear activities are intended for peaceful civilian purposes and argues that it has the right to pursue nuclear technology for non-military applications.

The competing positions have remained at the heart of tensions between Washington and Tehran, with questions surrounding Iran’s nuclear infrastructure continuing to complicate diplomatic efforts.

Recent American strikes on Qeshm Island, located in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, have added to the uncertainty surrounding the conflict.

Diplomatic Efforts Continue Despite Military Escalation

Despite ongoing military developments, diplomatic contacts aimed at ending the confrontation have not been abandoned. Negotiations facilitated by Qatar are continuing, offering a possible channel for reducing tensions and reaching an agreement.

The timing of CENTCOM’s announcement highlights the parallel strategies being pursued by Washington: strengthening its intelligence capabilities while diplomatic efforts remain underway.

The latest recruitment initiative also recalls an earlier CIA campaign in 2026 aimed at encouraging Chinese military officers to share sensitive information with American intelligence services. Beijing responded at the time by warning that it would take all necessary measures against foreign espionage activities.

The $20 million offer directed at individuals with access to Iran’s nuclear programme therefore reflects Washington’s growing reliance on human intelligence as it seeks to assess Tehran’s capabilities and shape the next phase of the confrontation.
