Sustainable Partnership: Azura and Suez Sign Two Waste Management Contracts

Azura Group, a global leader in the fruit & vegetable and aquaculture sectors, has entered into a strategic partnership with Suez, a leading provider of circular economy solutions for waste. The collaboration involves the signing of two 6-year contracts for the management of organic waste from Azura’s operations in the regions of Agadir and Dakhla.

The partnership, officially announced on Wednesday, outlines Suez's commitment to constructing and operating two composting platforms. These facilities will have a combined capacity to process 116,000 tons of organic waste annually, resulting in the production of 42,000 tons of compost and 43,000 tons of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF).

“This solution addresses the challenges of circular economy and resource preservation, aligning with the strong commitment of both Azura Group and Suez,” stated the joint press release.

In response to Morocco's escalating water stress, the adoption of composting provides a sustainable alternative to enhance soil quality and water retention. The locally-produced, high-quality compost will be made available to regional farmers through a local distributor, thereby creating value for the community.

This contractual agreement solidifies an ongoing collaboration that began in 2020 when Suez took charge of managing and recycling waste from Azura's operations.
