Spain Enhances Morocco's Surveillance Capabilities with Advanced Technology
The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has formalized an agreement to supply Morocco with cutting-edge surveillance systems designed to combat illegal immigration, organized crime, and human trafficking. Spanish media have reported that the initiative underscores growing cooperation between the two nations on security matters.
As part of this agreement, nearly 20 advanced video surveillance systems, worth €4.12 million, will be delivered to Moroccan authorities. This follows an earlier decision made in August by Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, with the purchase contract officially signed on October 20 by Spain's Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez.
The initiative aims to strengthen Morocco's intervention capabilities in managing migration flows and addressing cross-border criminal activities. Grande-Marlaska emphasized that the provision of these surveillance systems reflects Spain's commitment to fostering effective collaboration with Morocco in addressing shared security challenges.
This agreement marks another step in the strategic partnership between Spain and Morocco, highlighting mutual efforts to enhance regional stability and security.
