Netanyahu urges UN to stop blaming Israel as army pledges to ease Gaza aid delivery

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the United Nations on Sunday to cease blaming Israel for the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, following an announcement by the Israeli army that it would facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid into the war-torn Palestinian territory.

“There are secure corridors. They have always existed, but now it's official. There will be no more excuses,” Netanyahu said during a visit to an Israeli airbase.

The statement comes after over 21 months of conflict in Gaza, which has left much of the territory in ruins and its population facing severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. While the UN welcomed the military’s commitment to easing aid access, it remained cautious about the practical impact of the announcement, citing ongoing logistical challenges and security risks.

International aid organizations and human rights groups have repeatedly called on Israel to increase humanitarian access to Gaza, warning of famine and disease among the civilian population. The Israeli government has long insisted that military and security concerns justify its restrictions.

The announcement of new aid corridors may ease some pressure on Israeli diplomacy, but humanitarian agencies stress that implementation on the ground remains critical. “Words must be matched by effective actions,” said a UN spokesperson, calling for uninterrupted aid flow and international oversight.
