Nearly 20 Afghan Taliban killed in border clashes, says Pakistani army
Nearly 20 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed on Wednesday in new clashes along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, the Pakistani army said in a statement.
“Early this morning, an attack was carried out by Afghan Taliban forces at the border,” the army declared. “In response to the assault, 15 to 20 Taliban militants were killed and many others were wounded.”
The confrontation reportedly occurred in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, a hotspot for frequent cross-border tensions between Taliban forces and Pakistani troops.
Tensions between the two neighbors have escalated in recent months, as Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring militants who carry out attacks on Pakistani soil, a claim the Taliban government has consistently denied.
