Morocco's Commitment to Palestinian Cause Reinforced at Arab-Islamic Summit

At the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, the Head of the Moroccan Government, Aziz Akhannouch, emphasized that King Mohammed VI has made the Palestinian cause a permanent fixture of the Kingdom's foreign policy. Representing His Majesty at the summit, Akhannouch reiterated the Sovereign's longstanding commitment to supporting constructive initiatives aimed at achieving a lasting ceasefire and addressing the humanitarian situation.

In his address at the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day celebration, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco’s dedication to advocating for a peaceful resolution, emphasizing that the escalating situation in the region requires moving beyond crisis management toward a definitive solution. He stressed that while an immediate ceasefire in Gaza is critical, it must be accompanied by the creation of a political horizon that will lead to a just and lasting peace in the region.

The King also highlighted the importance of negotiations to revive the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis, calling for efforts to block extremists from all sides. He emphasized that true stability and security in the region could only be achieved through a two-state solution, with Gaza as part of an independent Palestinian state and East Jerusalem as its capital.

As President of the Al-Quds Committee, the Sovereign directed urgent humanitarian and medical aid to Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem through a new land route. Akhannouch also reiterated Morocco’s condemnation of Israel’s military escalation, particularly its extension of violence into Lebanon, viewing it as a dangerous development with unpredictable consequences. This escalation, he argued, calls for scrutiny of the underlying motives and the parties benefiting from the tragic situation.

Furthermore, Morocco expressed its solidarity with Lebanon in preserving its sovereignty and supporting its national institutions to ensure unity, security, and stability within the country. The Moroccan delegation at the summit included key figures such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, along with diplomats from the Moroccan Embassy in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the Kingdom’s strong presence and active participation in regional affairs.
