Morocco’s ANME inaugurates executive board and launches new strategic phase

The National Association of Media and Publishers (ANME) in Morocco has officially installed its executive board, marking the beginning of a new organizational phase built on continuity and shared responsibility.

The first meeting of the board focused on the formation of its executive team and the definition of the association’s action plan for the upcoming term. The composition of the board reflects the pluralism and diversity of Morocco’s media landscape.

Idriss Chahtane serves as president, with honorary presidents including Abdelmounaïm Dilami, Ahmed Charai, Bahia Amrani, and Abdellah El Ferdaous. The executive team also includes seven vice-presidents and a secretariat led by Mokhtar Laghzioui, with Ichrak Moubsit as deputy secretary general. The treasury is managed by Mohamed Haitami, supported by Hicham Lakhlifi, while a council of advisors includes notable media figures.

The board emphasized its commitment to strengthening the media sector, improving journalists’ financial and professional conditions, defending press freedom, combating illegal platforms, and fostering institutional partnerships. It also aims to highlight the role of national media in promoting Morocco at regional and international levels, especially ahead of major upcoming cultural and sporting events.

President Chahtane stressed that the executive board embodies both trust and responsibility, and reaffirmed the association’s mission: “To defend the interests of national press, improve its environment, and strengthen our media institutions to make them stronger, more credible, and more influential.”
