AS Monaco Basket Denied Again by FFBB for National 1

AS Monaco Basket is still not authorized to resume competition in National 1. The French Basketball Federation has once again issued a negative opinion regarding the club's commitment, maintaining uncertainty around its sporting future.

The federal office of the FFBB reviewed AS Monaco's request on Saturday and decided not to validate its participation in the French third division. This decision comes after an initial exclusion from the professional championships, Elite 1 and Elite 2, due to financial difficulties.

Insufficient Financial Guarantees

To justify its position, the Federation believes it does not have the necessary guarantees to allow the club to join National 1.

The federal office notably sided with the analysis of the Management Control Commission, which also issued a negative opinion. The financial situation of AS Monaco remains at the heart of the matter, even though the club had recently won the French championship title.

This new decision further complicates the prospects for the Monegasque team, which hoped to at least continue its sporting activities at a lower level after its exclusion from the two professional divisions.

An Uncertain Sporting Future

AS Monaco Basket is thus going through a particularly delicate period. After having played at the top of French basketball, the club now faces an administrative situation that directly questions its participation in national competitions.

The refusal from the FFBB not only signifies a sporting downgrade. It also raises doubts about the club's ability to present a project that meets the financial and regulatory requirements of the Federation.
