Morocco-backed agency launches emergency health and education drive in Jerusalem
The Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency launched an emergency campaign on Tuesday to support the health and education sectors in Jerusalem, responding to the difficult conditions facing the Holy City amid the ongoing security situation in the Middle East. The initiative was carried out in partnership with the Moroccan Association for Support of Reconstruction in Palestine.
As part of the campaign, the agency distributed a batch of electronic tablets to the Jerusalem Education Directorate in the Al-Ram area, north of the city, to help sustain educational continuity in schools affected by the crisis. First aid kits were also delivered to neighborhood committees in the Old City of Jerusalem, which has been under closures for more than three weeks due to the regional security situation. The kits included emergency medical supplies and related equipment.
Jerusalem's education director, Samir Jibril, expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Qods Committee, and to the Moroccan people for their continued support of the Holy City and its residents. He said the initiative came at a critical moment, noting that the distributed devices would allow students to continue their studies, particularly given the growing reliance on distance learning. He added that difficult economic conditions in Jerusalem prevent many students from purchasing such equipment themselves.
The principal of the Al-Aqsa Girls' School, Amal Abou Al-Rub, said the initiative would have a meaningful impact on remote learning, pointing out that many students face real difficulties accessing online classes, especially in households with four or five students sharing limited devices. The deputy principal of Al-Oumma School, Soufiane Allan, also praised the agency's support, describing it as essential given the mounting pressures on the education sector.
On the health side, representatives of neighborhood committees and associations in the Old City underscored the importance of the emergency campaign in the face of growing social and political pressure. Samer Khalil, a member of a youth committee, said the initiative reflected the depth of ties between the Moroccan and Palestinian peoples. Marouane Ghanim, from the Al-Wad neighborhood youth committee, added that the distribution of aid and first aid kits within the Old City represents a continuation of Morocco's longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and the people of Jerusalem.
