Moroccan Private Sector Reaffirms Commitment to Africa's Progress

In a resounding affirmation of Morocco's unwavering dedication to fostering Africa's development, the private sector has taken center stage, reinforcing its crucial role in the co-development and progress of the continent. This commitment was articulated by Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), during the CEO Forum Africa held in Kigali.

Aligning with the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Alj underscored the imperative for Moroccan enterprises to exemplify resilience, innovation, and exemplary practices as they accompany the nation's positive dynamics. He emphasized the significance of sustainable development initiatives, recalling the CGEM's pioneering efforts in establishing dedicated commissions and a charter for corporate social responsibility.

Alj highlighted the 2006 launch of the CSR Label, a prestigious recognition of Moroccan companies' societal and environmental engagement. Furthermore, he lauded the collaboration between the CGEM and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection in implementing projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, a testament to the private sector's commitment to environmental stewardship.

Under the visionary leadership of His Majesty the King, Morocco has undertaken concrete measures to promote sustainable development, Alj affirmed. Chief among these is the National Energy Strategy of 2009, which positions the Kingdom as a major player in the burgeoning green hydrogen sector. Coupled with an attractive new investment charter, the Moroccan private sector is poised to play a pivotal role in achieving decarbonization and sustainable growth objectives, solidifying the nation's status as Africa's decarbonization hub.

Alj's emphatic remarks underscore the private sector's determination to contribute to Africa's prosperity actively. By embracing sustainable practices, fostering innovation, and leveraging Morocco's strategic position, the private sector is poised to catalyze transformative change across the continent.

This renewed commitment to Africa's progress comes at a pivotal juncture, as nations worldwide grapple with the pressing challenges of climate change and the imperative for sustainable economic development. Morocco's private sector stands ready to lead by example, harnessing its expertise and resources to drive positive change and unlock new avenues of growth and collaboration across the African continent.

As Africa charts its course towards a more prosperous and sustainable future, the Moroccan private sector's unwavering support serves as a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of partnerships and shared vision. With a steadfast commitment to innovation, environmental stewardship, and socio-economic development, this sector is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping Africa's trajectory, unlocking new frontiers of progress and prosperity.
