French Group NGE Secures First Contract for Kenitra-Marrakech High-Speed Rail Expansion

French construction group Nouvelles Générations d’Entrepreneurs (NGE) has announced its successful bid for Lot 3 of Morocco’s high-speed rail expansion project, linking Kenitra and Marrakech. This marks the company’s first railway contract in the country and aligns with Morocco’s broader vision to enhance its rail network.

Managed by the National Office of Railways (ONCF), the project is designed to rehabilitate conventional rail infrastructure to accommodate the new high-speed line (LGV). It also aims to improve the capacity of existing rail lines, crucial for boosting regional mobility and facilitating economic growth.

The NGE-led consortium, which includes TSO, TSO Caténaires, and NGE Maroc, will be responsible for a comprehensive range of tasks. These include track replacement, civil engineering, drainage installation, and the construction of platforms and overhead catenary systems. The work will focus on the Oasis business district in Casablanca, extending to Nouaceur, and will cover five key stations, including Nouaceur Ville and Mohammed V International Airport. These improvements will integrate seamlessly with the future LGV, enhancing connectivity and contributing to a sustainable, low-carbon transport system.

Jean Bernadet, President of NGE, emphasized the importance of the contract, noting that it reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s infrastructure development. "By participating in this significant project, we are fulfilling our commitment to building sustainable, low-carbon mobility solutions that address ecological transition challenges," Bernadet stated.

NGE has been active in Morocco since 1990, initially focusing on road infrastructure. Over time, it has expanded into public works and construction, with major achievements such as the Tanger Med Port Viaduct and various wastewater treatment plants. In recent years, NGE has diversified its operations, acquiring Avanzit Technologies Maroc in 2023 to enter the telecommunications sector, and Sade Maroc in 2024 to expand into water management.
