Four police officers killed in bus crash near Sidi Ifni, 26 injured

Four officers from Morocco’s Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale (DGSN) were killed and 26 others injured in a bus accident near Sidi Ifni on Saturday morning, according to an official statement.

The bus was transporting 44 members of a mobile public order unit who were traveling to Agadir to provide security for a football competition. Preliminary reports indicate that the crash occurred approximately 24 kilometers from Sidi Ifni. Among the injured, two officers were reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet released details about the cause of the accident, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Emergency services responded promptly, transferring the injured officers to hospital facilities for treatment.

The Director General of National Security instructed the Agadir Police Prefecture and the DGSN’s medical and social services to closely monitor the condition of the injured and provide all necessary assistance. He also ordered that condolences and appropriate support be extended to the families of the deceased officers.

In addition, the Directorate of Human Resources has been tasked with ensuring that the victims and their families receive the administrative benefits and entitlements provided under the DGSN’s statutory regulations. The tragedy has renewed concerns about road safety and the risks faced by security forces while carrying out operational duties.
