Financial Support for 29 Film Festivals in Morocco

The Film Festivals Support Committee, which convened on March 3 and 4 in Rabat, has selected 29 festivals and events to receive financial assistance totaling 6,770,000 MAD. The committee reviewed 31 funding requests and met with festival organizers who presented their projects.

Among the recipients, the Foundation of the International Mediterranean Film Festival of Tetouan will receive 1.3 million MAD for its 30th edition, while the International African Film Festival will be granted 1.2 million MAD for its upcoming event. The Association for Cultural and Artistic Animation in Southern Provinces will receive 700,000 MAD for the Dakhla International Film Festival.

The Meknès International Animation Film Festival (FICAM), organized by the Aïcha Foundation, will be allocated 600,000 MAD, matching the amount given to the International Documentary Film Festival, organized by the Association for Culture and Education through Audiovisuals.

The Casablanca International Independent Film Festival, organized by the Moroccan Center for Image Education, will receive 300,000 MAD. The Arab Film Festival of Casablanca, run by the Imtidad Association for Culture and Development, will be granted 250,000 MAD, while the Assa Cinema and Theatre Association, which organizes the Assa National Sahara Film Festival, will be allocated 200,000 MAD.

Additionally, 150,000 MAD will be allocated to the Talassemtane Association for the Environment and Development (ATED) for the International Environmental Film Festival. The Commedia Workshop for Cinematic Creativity will receive 140,000 MAD for the International Short Film Festival, and 120,000 MAD each will be given to the Rabat Comedy International Film Festival and the "Caméra Kids" National Cinematographic Festival.

Other festivals, including the International Film Festival of Al Hoceima, Nour Film Festival of Casablanca, and the International Amateur Film Festival, will each receive 100,000 MAD. The Amazigh Moroccan Cinema Festival "TAFSUT" and the Cap Spartel International Film Festival will both be allocated 80,000 MAD.

Further funding, including 60,000 MAD, will be distributed among other festivals such as the Cinema Creations of the Student Festival, the International Real Cinema Festival, and the Rif Amazigh Film Festival. Additional smaller grants of 50,000 MAD will be given to various other film events, including the Safi School Cinema Festival and the Dcheira International Cinema Festival.

The committee was chaired by Mrs. Khadija Alami Laâroussi, with members including Sabah El Fayssali, Malika Maielainin, Asmae Krimech, Imane Mesbahi, Ahmed Aafach, Bouaâza El Bouchtaoui, and Mohammed El Missi.
