Ethiopian Cargo Expands Maghreb Presence with Casablanca Inauguration
Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has soared into Casablanca's airspace, marking its 35th freighter destination and strengthening its Maghreb presence. The inaugural flight, operated by a Boeing 777-200F, capable of transporting over 100 tons of cargo, signifies the carrier's commitment to providing reliable freight solutions worldwide.
Tasew Mesfin, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, expressed the significance of this new venture, stating, "The launch of freighter services to Casablanca signifies a new chapter for us. It amplifies our commitment to providing reliable and efficient services across the world."
Ethiopian Cargo, the continent's largest cargo provider, already boasts an extensive network, with 135 global destinations served by a fleet of 145 aircraft, including 17 dedicated cargo carriers. The expansion into Casablanca further underscores the airline's aggressive growth strategy.
Morocco, amid preparations for hosting the 2030 World Cup, is experiencing heightened aviation activity. Ethiopian Cargo joins Ryanair and Jet Luxe as the third airline in as many months to establish operations in the country. Ryanair, in particular, has unveiled a substantial $1.4 billion investment plan to solidify its footprint in Morocco.
Ethiopian Cargo's entry into Morocco not only taps into the country's growing potential but also showcases the airline's commitment to capitalizing on emerging opportunities. As Africa's premier cargo network, Ethiopian Cargo continues to solidify its position on the global stage through strategic expansions, enhancing both its capabilities and reach.
