Morocco's airports processed over 32 million passengers in 2024, with plans to triple capacity by 2035, according to Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh's report to the House of Representatives.

The nation aims to expand its airport traffic significantly, targeting 60 million passengers by 2030 and 90 million by 2035. To achieve these goals, the government is strengthening domestic air connectivity across Morocco's 12 regions, implementing subsidized travel rates, and fostering partnerships between key stakeholders.

Regional connectivity has been enhanced through agreements between the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Economy and Finance, regional councils, and Royal Air Maroc (RAM). These collaborations focus on several regions, including Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima.

Key domestic routes have seen increased frequency, with Casablanca-Dakhla and Casablanca-Laayoune operating 14 weekly flights each. The ministry provided financial support covering one-third of allocated funds, with total subsidies reaching approximately MAD 60 million ($6 million). RAM successfully transported over 2.28 million passengers through these agreements.

Private carrier Air Arabia has expanded its domestic operations, introducing new connections between major cities. The airline launched routes between Rabat and Agadir, while also connecting Agadir with Tangiers and Fez. A recently established Tangier-Nador route offers bi-weekly flights, matching the frequency of the new Marrakech-Dakhla service. The ministry allocated MAD 20 million ($2 million) to support these initiatives, enabling Air Arabia to transport roughly 364,000 passengers.

Under Morocco's open-skies policy, foreign carriers like Ryanair have expanded their presence. Since March 2024, Ryanair has introduced 14 flights across 11 routes, connecting nine Moroccan airports. These include services between Marrakech and Fez, Marrakech and Tangier, and Agadir with various northern and eastern cities.
