Ryanair launches new flight route connecting Manchester and Rabat

Ryanair, the Irish low-cost airline, is set to launch a new flight route between Manchester and Rabat, starting March 30th. This service will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

According to Manchester Airport, Rabat will become the fifth Moroccan destination accessible through direct flights from the northern English airport, joining Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir. The airport highlighted the growing appeal of Morocco to British travelers, noting that nearly half a million passengers traveled to the country from Manchester in 2024, a sharp increase from 275,000 in the previous year, reflecting the rising demand for this destination.

Stephen Turner, the airport's commercial director, emphasized that Morocco is increasingly becoming a favored destination for people in northern England. He stated that Rabat offers an “unforgettable experience” that will undoubtedly be highly appreciated by travelers. The announcement of the new route has garnered widespread attention from the British media, which has praised the charm of the Moroccan capital, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2012.

The The Sun newspaper described Rabat as a “peaceful coastal gem,” rich with attractions such as the Kasbah of the Udayas, the old city, the banks of the Bou Regreg River, and the Hassan Tower, which has been an iconic symbol of the city since the 12th century.

The newspaper also lauded the calm and authentic nature of the capital, which offers a contrast to more popular tourist destinations.

Similarly, the Chester Standard weekly newspaper highlighted the diversity of Rabat’s attractions, from its “golden sandy beaches and stunning sites to its cuisine, magnificent architecture, and rich, historic culture.”

This new route is expected to attract increasing numbers of visitors looking for a destination that combines culture, relaxation, and discovery.
