China is negotiating with EU over its steel trade measures
China has confirmed that it is currently engaged in negotiations with the European Union regarding new restrictions imposed on duty-free steel imports. According to a spokesperson from China’s Ministry of Commerce, the discussions are taking place under the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Chinese authorities stated that the EU’s recent measures could have a significant impact on bilateral steel trade and may also disrupt the stability of the global supply chain. Beijing has expressed concerns that such restrictions could create trade imbalances between major economic partners.
Despite these concerns, China has indicated its willingness to continue dialogue with the European side in order to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. The ministry emphasized that it hopes for a “win-win” outcome through constructive negotiations.
The steel sector remains a sensitive area in global trade relations, as it is closely linked to industrial production, infrastructure development, and economic growth. Any changes in trade rules between major economies like China and the EU are likely to have wider international effects.
Discussions between the two sides are expected to continue as both parties attempt to manage trade tensions while maintaining stability in global markets.
