Canal+ posts resilient first-half revenue as legacy operations offset MultiChoice slowdown
French media and pay television group Canal+ reported a resilient financial performance for the first half of 2026, with modest revenue growth supported by the strength of its established businesses and signs of improving performance at African broadcaster MultiChoice.
The company posted combined revenue of €4.29 billion for the six months ending in June, representing a 0.6% increase compared with the same period last year.
Established businesses support growth
Canal+ credited the stability of its long-standing operations for helping maintain overall revenue growth despite challenges in parts of its international portfolio.
The group's traditional pay television and media activities continued to provide a solid financial foundation, offsetting weaker contributions from recently acquired assets.
The results underline the importance of Canal+'s diversified business model as the company continues expanding its global footprint.
MultiChoice integration shows progress
The performance of MultiChoice, the African broadcasting company acquired by Canal+ last year, also showed signs of improvement.
Although the broadcaster continued to record lower revenue, the pace of decline narrowed during the reporting period, suggesting that operating conditions are gradually stabilizing following the acquisition.
The integration of MultiChoice remains a strategic priority as Canal+ strengthens its presence across African media markets.
Profitability improves sharply
In addition to higher revenue, Canal+ reported a strong increase in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes and exceptional items, which climbed 19.1% to €433 million.
The improvement in profitability reflects operational efficiencies and the contribution of the group's established businesses, reinforcing Canal+'s financial resilience despite a competitive media landscape.
Focus on international expansion
Canal+ continues to pursue long-term growth through international expansion, particularly in Africa, where demand for premium television, sports broadcasting and streaming services continues to evolve.
The latest financial results suggest the company is making progress in balancing mature operations with strategic investments, positioning the group for continued development across multiple markets.
