Audi unveils new Q9 luxury SUV with premium features and powerful engines
Audi has officially introduced the new Q9, a large luxury SUV designed to compete with established models such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. The vehicle combines a spacious interior, advanced technology and a range of powerful engines, positioning it as a new flagship in Audi's SUV lineup.
Measuring around 5.31 metres in length, 2.21 metres in width and 1.81 metres in height, the Q9 offers a wheelbase of approximately 3.14 metres. The standard configuration provides seating for up to seven passengers, while an alternative layout with individual second-row seats can accommodate six occupants.
The SUV features Audi's distinctive Singleframe grille with a vertical design and horizontal elements, complemented by Digital Matrix LED headlights. At the rear, OLED lighting technology contributes to the vehicle's modern appearance, while the lighting system is designed to enhance both visibility and styling.
Inside the cabin, the Q9 is equipped with a wide range of premium features. These include electrically operated doors with ultrasonic sensors, a panoramic glass roof measuring more than 1.5 square metres and adjustable lighting intensity. The multimedia system combines a curved central display with an additional screen for the front passenger, creating a high-tech environment for occupants.
Audi is expected to offer different powertrain options depending on the market. European customers are set to receive a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing around 299 horsepower, while the US market is expected to get a 2.9-litre turbocharged petrol engine with approximately 429 horsepower. A sportier SQ9 version is also planned, featuring a 4.0-litre V8 engine capable of producing around 591 horsepower.
Across the range, the Q9 is expected to feature an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension designed to provide greater comfort and stability across different road conditions.
According to available information, Audi is expected to begin accepting orders toward the end of July, with prices starting at approximately €108,400. The first deliveries to dealerships are anticipated during the final quarter of the year, giving the German automaker a new contender in the highly competitive premium large-SUV market.
