Albares: Spain Committed to Enhancing Multi-Sector Relations with Morocco
Addressing Spanish lawmakers this week, Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares reiterated Spain's commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with neighboring Morocco across various sectors in the upcoming years.
Speaking before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies on Monday, Albares emphasized the Pedro Sánchez administration's objective of advancing economic ties while fostering cooperation with Rabat in security, cultural, and educational domains.
Highlighting Morocco as the destination for his first diplomatic visit abroad since assuming office, the foreign minister stressed that augmenting exchanges between the two nations would reinforce the substantial "human and economic ties" already established.
Key among Spain's priorities is the enhancement of collaborative efforts with Moroccan authorities in combating terrorism and human trafficking. Albares also expressed a desire for increased participation of Moroccan students in Spanish universities and vice versa to bolster cultural connections.
"Morocco is a neighboring country with which we share significant and friendly relations," Albares informed lawmakers. "For these compelling reasons, I selected Morocco as the destination for my inaugural official trip, underscoring the vital importance we attribute to further intertwining the bonds between our peoples in the years to come."
