Air France raises economy ticket prices again amid rising fuel costs

French carrier Air France has once again increased ticket prices in response to rising fuel costs, adding further pressure on travelers as global energy prices remain volatile.

The airline, part of the Air France-KLM group, has introduced an additional surcharge on long-haul economy and premium economy tickets. This adjustment follows a previous increase implemented just weeks earlier, bringing the total rise on some routes to around 100 euros for a round trip.

The decision reflects the ongoing surge in kerosene prices, largely driven by geopolitical tensions affecting global oil markets. Airlines typically adjust fuel surcharges to offset higher operating costs, especially during periods of sustained price volatility.

The pricing changes are not limited to Air France alone. Its low-cost subsidiary Transavia has also revised its fares, applying modest increases across its network.

Industry experts note that fuel represents one of the largest expenses for airlines, and fluctuations in oil prices can quickly translate into higher ticket costs for passengers. As a result, travelers may face continued fare adjustments if energy markets remain unstable.

Air France has clarified that customers who have already purchased tickets will not be affected by the new increases, as fares remain fixed once a booking is confirmed.

The move highlights the broader challenges facing the aviation sector, which must balance rising operational costs with maintaining demand in an increasingly competitive market.
