Wydad Casablanca Set to Appoint Nasreddine Nabi as Head Coach
Wydad Athletic Club are preparing for a change in leadership, with Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi expected to arrive in Casablanca on Tuesday evening to complete negotiations and sign his contract with the Moroccan club.
Nabi’s anticipated arrival signals progress in talks that had remained inconclusive earlier in the day. Wydad’s management was still awaiting his final confirmation before settling on a successor to Portuguese coach Paulo Sérgio. The next step is expected to formalise the agreement, pending an official announcement from the club.
Signs point to a new Wydad appointment
Speculation surrounding Nabi’s potential move to Casablanca intensified after the agency representing the Tunisian coach shared a photograph of him accompanied by an airplane emoji. The post also featured a song associated with the Winners, Wydad’s supporters’ group, alongside the club’s traditional red and white colours.
Although the social media clues fuelled expectations of an agreement, the anticipated arrival represents a more concrete development in the process. Nabi’s appointment, however, remains subject to the completion of contractual formalities and confirmation by Wydad.
Paulo Sérgio’s departure still requires formalities
At the same time, Wydad’s management is working to finalise the separation from Paulo Sérgio. His departure appears close, but the two sides must still settle the remaining terms of their agreement and complete the necessary legal procedures.
Resolving the contractual situation is an important step in ensuring a smooth transition between the outgoing Portuguese coach and his expected Tunisian successor.
A new chapter for the Casablanca club
Nabi is expected to take charge once his contract has been concluded and the coaching change formally confirmed. His arrival would bring an end to the uncertainty surrounding Wydad’s next managerial appointment and allow the club to focus on its sporting objectives.
For now, the final stages of the negotiations and the official confirmation remain the key developments to watch as Wydad prepare for a new phase under a potential change of leadership.
