Air Arabia Maroc Bolsters Domestic Connectivity with Increased Agadir-Rabat Flights

Air Arabia Maroc, Morocco's leading low-cost carrier, has announced a significant increase in flight frequencies between the coastal city of Agadir and the capital, Rabat. This move is part of the airline's efforts to improve domestic travel accessibility and cater to the growing demand for convenient travel within Morocco.

Starting Wednesday, Air Arabia Maroc has added three additional flights to its schedule, bringing the total number of weekly flights between Agadir and Rabat to seven. This strategic expansion has been well received by industry stakeholders, including Abdelhak Chahli, the first vice-president of the Agadir-Souss Massa Regional Tourism Council. He praised the airline's commitment to promoting domestic and international tourism in the region.

Chahli expressed satisfaction with the airline's forward-thinking approach, noting, "This decision will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the promotion of domestic and international tourism in the Souss Massa region." He further highlighted the region's support for the local economy, pointing out that the total number of flights between Rabat and Agadir now exceeds 720 annually.

The airline's decision comes at a time when air traffic in Morocco is experiencing a significant upswing. By the end of March, the country's airports had handled 6.8 million passengers, representing a 14% year-on-year increase. According to officials from the National Airports Office (ONDA), the number of flights landing in Moroccan airports during the first quarter of 2024 exceeded 51,000, marking an 11% increase from the same period the previous year.

Several factors have contributed to this impressive growth, including the launch of new air routes, increased flight frequencies, and high aircraft occupancy rates. Notably, Agadir's airport experienced a substantial 23% growth rate, while Rabat-Sale airport recorded a remarkable 32% surge in traffic.

With this enhanced flight schedule, Air Arabia Maroc aims to meet the increasing demand for domestic travel, providing seamless connectivity and convenient options for travelers eager to explore Morocco's diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage. This strategic initiative underscores the airline's commitment to offering affordable and accessible air travel solutions, contributing to the continued success of Morocco's tourism industry.
